Capitol Forest is one of those special places where mountain bikers, equestrians, hikers and atv
riders successfully co-exist and share trails and facilities. The benefit of this co-existence is
increased access for all users and a combined volunteer labor force that is highly effective in
maintaining all trails and facilities thanks to this shared access.

The future success of this relationship lies in the hands of todays users. As recreational use here
increases all users have a renewed responsibility to work together.

On the part of mountain bikers, proper and respectful trail etiquette in regards to other users is the
path to the continued success here. Take responsibility as a mountain biker. Control your bike at all
times. Be friendly with and show respect for other users. Educate new riders and old. If you
encounter another user on the trail, yield the trail. Get off of your bike, off of the trail. Maintain
verbal communication and eye contact particularly with horse's to insure their's (and your) safe
passing on the trail. For more trail etiquette information click
HERE.

Capitol Forest's long history of mountain biking is rooted in trail riding. The terrain and shared trail
systems here are well suited for this low impact and co-habitable type of riding.

Green Trails: Bike, Hike, Equestrians.........................Red Trails: Bike, Hike, ATV

Please be considerate while riding Green Trails. Always ride cautiously while on the Green Trail
system A horse, hiker or fellow bike rider could be just around the next corner. Riding with a bell
on your bike is also a good idea. There are many places in the NW with dedicated mountain bike
trails, but Capitol Forest is not currently one of them. The objective here is to maintain Capitol
Forest's historical trend of safe, respectful mountain bike trail riding that blends well with the other
users on the trail. Fresh air, quality trails and trail rides...Capitol Forest mountain biking.
