The Ski Tour Reunion, 2008. The Deutsche Brothers and Graham set out for Epic Ski Tour 2008 in the little known back country skiing mecca of Capitol
Forest Washington. With a week of snow and cold temps and clear skies prevailing we launched our Friday afternoon assualt-on-the-towers from lower
C-7000. Skinning up C-7000, taking a couple abandoned logging roads, a cross country track up through the trees and a final ascent on Trail #30 to the top
we arrived just as the sun was setting. The conditions were as good as it gets for a 2600' peak in the NW.....temps in the teens, 18-24 inches of chalky
wind blown with some fluffy dry pockets in the trees and crystal clear blue skies. We pulled our skins off, locked our heels and bombed straight down the
old jeep road to C-7000 and then pointed it back to the truck .The skiing was......um...kinda...well....for Capitol Forest it ROCKED! Really it was a fun trip,
the skiing was barely skiing by Cascades standards, but for some local mountain bikers this ski trip on our home mountain was a worthy adventure.
How often can you break out your Randonee gear this close to Olympia, huh?

And no ski trip in Capitol Forest is complete without a camo hat in the crew. Show some respect, this is Capitol Forest.

With another winter storm approaching ........more turns will be waiting to be had. Ski or die.
